There were no clear sectoral winners during the year as a
toxic cocktail of deficient monsoons, weak domestic demand, and a slowing China
hurt most industries barring a handful. The only relief was lower input prices
for many sectors. However, competitive pressures meant that most of the gains
had to be passed on to consumers.
